Dickinson State unveils updated Ben C. Frank Human Performance Center
In a ceremony Friday morning, Dickinson State University unveiled a renovation of the Ben C. Frank Human Performance Center, their state-of-the-art weight room.
The facility had not been upgraded since 2000, and thanks to generous donors and the university, it was time to enhance the way the Blue Hawks athletics teams grind.

DSU rethinks Writing Across the Curriculum, tailors to disciplines
Dickinson State University is refining and expanding its Writing Across the Curriculum program.
“It’s been pushed at every school I’ve been at, but especially at DSU, to make sure the students know in first year composition that what they’re learning there isn’t a one and done. They’ve got to carry it through the curriculum and carry it into their careers,” said Michelle Stevier-Johanson, Writing Across the Curriculum coordinator.

The things they carry: Veterans speak to DSU students about experiences
“Some of the things that you hear are too incredible to be true, but they are. They’re too heinous to be true, but they are. They’re too heroic to be true, but they are. So when you hear a story about the military, we’re not all a bunch of crazed killers; we’re people just like … you folks, but we’ve had different experiences. Sometimes they’re really hard to understand unless you have the background to understand them,” veteran Jim Parke told Dickinson State University students on Wednesday.

SBDC at Dickinson State helped start 15 new businesses in 2018
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located on the Dickinson State University (DSU) campus helped 15 new area businesses get their start last year. Overall, the center assisted over 100 clients in 2018, a growth of over 25% from the first year, according to Darrell Neubert, SBDC business advisor and DSU assistant professor of business.
