Blue Hawks, this is one of your Student Ambassadors! Tia Hallock is a senior majoring in elementary education – special education and social science.
Where are you from, Tia?
I graduated from Scobey, MT but grew up in Opheim, MT.
What are you involved in on and off campus?
I’ve been involved in track & field and have worked at Able Inc. I also substitute teach when I have the chance. I enjoy attending sporting events around campus and this year’s turnout at all the events has been awesome.
Tell us three fun facts about yourself.
- I enjoy taking naps, often longer than they should be.
- I grew up on a farm about 10 minutes from the Canadian border, so we often went to Saskatchewan for our shopping trips.
- I have a pet cat named Ritz that I have taught to do tricks such as fetch and sit.

I am from Worden, Montana.
What are you involved in on and off campus?
I am involved in football, track, and some city league basketball as well as residence life.
Tell us three fun facts about yourself.
- I am very outgoing and have said hi to almost every student here on campus.
- I am an academic probation success story and only had a 1.6 GPA my first semester at DSU, somehow turning it around.
- My dad is 75 years old… that always seems to catch people off guard.

Dickinson State University now offers a Master of Education in Elementary Education degree
Dickinson State University’s (DSU) new Master of Education in Elementary Education program will help in-service elementary education teachers become master teachers of their craft. The 34-credit graduate program will provide a deeper understanding of current methods and research associated with teaching in the elementary classroom by exploring key areas such as cross-curricular literacy, language arts and math instruction, and integrating technology purposefully for younger learners.
