Like 2020, this year has had a fair share of challenges. But, despite the ups and downs of another pandemic year, in many ways, it was a mighty good year for Dickinson State University. A probably incomplete list of this year’s highlights includes:
The DSU Heritage Foundation and Dickinson State University (DSU) announced Tuesday, Dec. 14 a $10 million gift from the Rob and Melani Walton Foundation to support the Theodore Roosevelt Center (TRC), dedicated to making the life, legacy, and enduring relevance of Theodore Roosevelt accessible to all.
Glenice Hansen, BSN, MS and Dale Hansen, DDS have generously donated $100,000 to Dickinson State University’s (DSU) Department of Nursing. This gift, the largest ever given to the department, will support the renovation of the entire second floor of Murphy Hall, which will become the Glenice Hansen Nursing Center in honor of the family’s gift.
Celebrate the 2021 homecoming festivities with Dickinson State University Oct. 3-10. This action-packed week includes the always-popular parade, alumni banquet, homecoming concert, athletic events and more.
The Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program students have been busy with start-of-semester events. On Sunday, Aug. 26, the thirteen new TR scholars gathered with their mentors to learn the ropes, share a meal, and play some cutthroat cornhole!
The DSU Heritage Foundation has awarded Dickinson State University (DSU) students $1.1 million dollars in scholarships for the 2021-22 upcoming school year. Awards include merit-based, need-based, academic, leadership, athletic, and rodeo scholarships.

In May, we held DSU’s first outdoor graduation. The weather was almost perfect, though a bit on the hot side for those in academic robes. The Class of 2021 demonstrated guts and grit by persevering through the many changes the pandemic forced upon us.
