Dickinson State University’s (DSU) Campus Activities Board (CAB), Sodexo Dining Services, Dickinson’s Rotary Club, and local restaurant Blue 42 have come together to provide more than 900 free Thanksgiving meals for members of the Dickinson community.

DSU students, staff, faculty and Dickinson community members can sign up to receive a freshly prepared and packaged Thanksgiving meal Thursday, Nov. 26. The meals can be picked up between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at one of six socially distanced serving stations that will be set up on the DSU campus.

“DSU is proud to be a sponsoring this event alongside our partners, Sodexo Dining Services, the Rotary Club, and Blue 42,” said Keith James, director of housing and dining at DSU. “It is our hope that families will participate in our drive-thru Thanksgiving meal. While COVID has put a damper on the traditional setup, we wanted to ensure this great program and community outreach event could still continue. We look forward to seeing members of our community drive-thru campus on Thanksgiving morning.”

DSU student volunteers from CAB, the men’s and women’s basketball teams, Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program scholars, and other student club and organization members will assist in distributing meals to the campus and community.

“We’re here to serve the University and the community of Dickinson,” said Sodexo General Manager Aaron Zummer. “Thank you to all of our partners who came together to help us keep this important tradition alive.”

The meal is free for anyone interested in participating. In order to keep an accurate count, those who wish to receive a free meal must pre-register online by Monday, Nov. 23.
