Empowerment speaker Pierce J. Brooks ’13 returns to campus to inspire fellow Blue Hawks
Empowerment speaker and coach Pierce J. Brooks traveled to the Dickinson State University (DSU) campus in late April to speak at a series of events sponsored by DSU’s Campus Activities Board and Multicultural Committee. Brooks, a former Blue Hawk men’s basketball player, addressed the audience at his commencement ceremony in 2013.

DSU’s PBL chapter and members awarded during state conference
The members of Dickinson State University’s (DSU) chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and their advisor, Amy Kass, assistant professor of accounting at DSU, attended the PBL State Leadership Conference Friday and Saturday, April 9 and 10, 2021. During the remote conference, the students participated in workshops, networked with other college students and business professionals, and competed in a maximum of three career skills competitions of their choice.
A number of DSU students earned top placements in their individual and team competitions. These students will have the opportunity to move on to the next level of competition at the PBL National Leadership Conference in June.

A day in the life: DSU students share agricultural knowledge with area youth at annual Kids Day on the Farm event

Spending a day on a farm is a great opportunity for those who live in urban areas to experience a lifestyle different from their own. There is one club at Dickinson State University (DSU) that brings the farm life to the city: the Agriculture Club. For the last 31 years, the Agriculture Club has hosted a free event, Kids Day on the Farm, at DSU’s indoor arena. During this event, members of the Agriculture Club share their knowledge with children from Dickinson and the surrounding communities and hope to pique their interest in the subject.

DSU Ag Club to host 31st annual Kids Day on the Farm April 15
The Dickinson State University (DSU) Agriculture Club has been bringing the farm into town every spring for more than 30 years. This year, Kids Day on the Farm is scheduled for Thursday, April 15, 2021. This free event, held in DSU’s indoor arena (400 State Ave.), offers a unique experience to children third grade and younger – along with teachers, parents, friends and families – about life on the farm.

It is always amazing to hear success stories of Dickinson State University (DSU) alumni. Aparna Subramanian graduated from DSU in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics. She now works for DCN (Dakota Carrier Network) and was recently named to Prairie Business’ 40 Under 40 list for 2020.
