Spending a day on a farm is a great opportunity for those who live in urban areas to experience a lifestyle different from their own. There is one club at Dickinson State University (DSU) that brings the farm life to the city: the Agriculture Club. For the last 31 years, the Agriculture Club has hosted a free event, Kids Day on the Farm, at DSU’s indoor arena. During this event, members of the Agriculture Club share their knowledge with children from Dickinson and the surrounding communities and hope to pique their interest in the subject.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused educational institutions, including Dickinson State University (DSU), to adopt new methods in order to continue delivering instruction to their students. From continuing in-person instruction with precautions in place, to shifting to online and hybrid modes of teaching, instructors have learned many new technologies. These new methods of delivery have helped students to navigate the constraints the pandemic has caused. When other methods of instruction are available, student learning becomes more flexible and opens up different ways of integration into an instructor’s lecture.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. The mere mention of the Thanksgiving holiday conjures up images of abundant amounts of food. Enough food that one would be full for days, or even eat leftovers for a week! However, some people are not that lucky, and this year has been hard on many families. While some families have lost loved ones, others have fallen on financial hardship and have even lost their jobs because of the current pandemic. For some, the holidays can be a way to enjoy the company of their family and friends, and for a while, they can forget about the problems in their life all while they enjoy a homecooked meal.

What usually happens to buildings that fall out of use? One possibility is that they are abandoned, decay, or become condemned. Another is that they are remodeled and given a new life. One such building at Dickinson State University (DSU) is getting a second chance at bringing life and purpose to the campus and community, and that building is Pulver Hall. This building is located northwest of Delong Hall on the University’s main campus. Before the Vietnam War, Pulver Hall’s main purpose was to be a six-floor residence hall and was considered the “twin” to Delong Hall. However, when the war ended and college enrollments diminished across the United States, it was no longer needed for use as a residence hall.
