Dickinson State University named among top 5% in the nation in the 2021 Collegiate Advertising Awards Program

The Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) is an elite, national program recognizing higher education organizations for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising, and promotions of their schools.

The 2021 CAA program received entries from the United States and Canada representing small community colleges to very large schools and universities.

Submissions were reviewed by a national panel of industry experts, with a possibility of 100 total points. Dickinson State University’s (DSU) entries competed against similar-sized organizations in their specific groups and categories.

Awards were issued for entries that received top marks from judges placing them in the top 16% of the nation for advertising excellence. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal. Dickinson State University received the Collegiate Advertising Gold Award for Admissions Marketing placing them in the top 5% in the nation.

Representing all areas of communications, medias, marketing, advertising, and promotions, the 2021 Collegiate Advertising Awards program contained some of the best advertising projects arguably in the world. The Collegiate Advertising Awards is pleased to recognize the outstanding creative achievements of DSU.

Excellence in Communication award bestowed upon 47 students at Dickinson State

Forty-seven students demonstrated exceptional skills in communication courses at Dickinson State University (DSU). These students were awarded the Recognition of Excellence in Communication by the Office of Academic Affairs following the spring 2022 semester.

“Communication skills are often the key determinant of a successful professional career,” said Debora Dragseth, provost and vice president at DSU. “Employers tell us they appreciate that Dickinson State University places emphasis on effective verbal and written communication skills.”

The Recognition of Excellence in Communication is awarded to students who have earned an A or B grade in College Composition I and II (ENGL 110 and 120) and Fundamentals of Public Speaking (COMM 110) over the course of their collegiate career. This accolade is published to the students’ Merit Pages accounts, allowing them to share their prowess in written and spoken communication with potential employers.

Nineteen students have been nominated by their respective departments for Dickinson State University’s (DSU) 2022 Outstanding Graduate Award. This award is the highest honor bestowed on graduating seniors by the University.

The following students will be honored by Dickinson State University at the Outstanding Graduate ceremony Friday, May 13, at 3 p.m. in the DSU Student Center Ballroom where the winner(s) will be announced.

Dickinson State University’s (DSU) President Steve Easton, in conjunction with Dickinson High School (DHS) Principal Kevin Hoherz, was selected to receive the #InnovativeND Award for System Transformation for his efforts toward revolutionizing education in Southwest North Dakota. State Governor Doug Burgum presented the award to Easton and Hoherz during the fifth annual Governor’s Summit on Innovative Education held at the Bismarck Event Center Monday, June 7, 2021.
