The Dickinson State University School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the ND Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are excited to work with the Stark Development Corporation in offering a new series of events that celebrates entrepreneurship. The Startup Your Day and Startup Your Night events are great for people who have thought they might like to be their own boss, for aspiring entrepreneurs and for established entrepreneurs.
Each event is an occasion for sharing ideas, collaborating and networking. They are designed to help entrepreneurs at any stage in their venture to succeed in business. The Startup Your Day/Night events provide entrepreneurs opportunities to learn from their peers and hear from other entities that can help as resources.
Currently, events are scheduled July 25-Sept. 26 with hopes of continuing on a regular basis with one Day and one Night event per month. The Startup Your Night events start the series and are held at either a restaurant or a bar location with the first ones being held at DePorres House of Barbering & Lounge, B2 Lounge and Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery. Attendees will hear the various hosts speak about their unique restaurant or bar related journey toward entrepreneurship followed by a discussion with an entrepreneurial resource.
The Startup Your Day events will follow a similar format, with the locations being business that are not in the bar or restaurant industries. The first two hosts are JLG Architects and Blue Hawk Audio & Video.
According to Stark Development’s website, “Startup Your Day events are Dickinson’s new venue to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship in the community. The events are designed to attract existing entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial support resources, experienced mentors, community leadership and those wanting to network. It is an opportunity to come together and discuss ideas and lessons learned surrounding business growth in the community.”
Whether a person owns a salon, a lawn care business, a retail shop or a repair shop, the fundamentals and struggles of starting and running a successful business are the same. These events offer those with the entrepreneurial spirit an opportunity to get together, learn from each other and build connections.
The events are free, there is no registration and no membership is required. People can attend as many or as few as they would like.
