July 24, 2018

The Mountain-Plains Business Education Association (M-PBEA) recently presented their 2018 Leadership Award to Lori Hauf, assistant professor of business in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SoBE) at Dickinson State University.

“We were thrilled to hear that professor Lori Hauf received the 2018 M-PBEA Leadership Award,” said Dr. Holly Gruhlke, chair of the SoBE. “Working with Lori, she demonstrates her commitment to quality business education on a daily basis, and is therefore well-respected by her colleagues and students. We are very proud of her accomplishment!”

According to information provided by the M-PBEA, the Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leaders within the organization and is the highest award presented at the regional level. Recipients of this award have provided countless hours of service toward business education. Since the M-PBEA Leadership Award is based on an individual’s contributions over the past 10 years in five categories, the applicant must exhibit a well-rounded background.

“Professional organizations, such as the National Business Education Association, can be a way to make professional connections that not only support your career, but also enable powerful change, encourage growth, and ultimately make my classroom a better place,” said Hauf. “I feel very strongly about professional associations. What I hope comes through is that there are professional opportunities for every instructor, and I would encourage them to explore the opportunities available. I recently attended the annual Mountain-Plains Business Education Association conference, and was struck again by how powerful and important it is to belong to an organization — any organization — with like-minded, dedicated educators. I am honored to be recognized by my colleagues who are just as deserving of the award.”

The M-PBEA is one of five regional associations of the National Business Education Association, a leading professional organization devoted to the professional growth and development of business educators and business people.
